With their season almost over, FC Barcelona are already focusing their attention on work beyond the pitch, as they start planning for the upcoming summer window with a view to taking care of the various renewals and transfers that they want to make.

With only very limited funds available to them, the Catalans can afford to bring only some budget reinforcements to their most weak areas in the coming summer. Furthermore, they will also be looking to renew the contracts of some of their existing players who can play an important role in the next sporting project.

According to Fabrizio Romano, one such player on whose contract renewal the Catalans are already working is Marc Casado. The trusted journalist reports that Barcelona have already started negotiations for a long-term contract for the 20-year-old Barça Atlètic captain.

These negotiations are for a new contract that will expectedly remain in force till 2027, thus ensuring the young defensive midfielder’s continued presence in the Blaugrana team.

As things stand, talks between the two parties are going well. Barcelona consider the midfielder to be an important talent, who can grow up to become a key player for the club in the coming years.

Casado made his first team debut in November 2022, when he appeared in a 4-2 victory over Viktoria Plzen. However, his first La Liga appearance came only a few weeks ago, as Xavi got him on the pitch in the 3-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on March 17, 2024.

Playing as a pivot, the youngster has regularly been called up by Xavi for the first-team squad. However, he mainly plays with Barcelona Atletic, and has made 21 appearances in the Primera Federacion this season. He has one assist to his name in these 21 appearances.

Being one of the most promising midfielders in the B team, it seems prudent on Barcelona’s part to renew the youngster. Hopefully, the two parties can come upon an agreement soon enough to ensure the long-term continuity of the midfielder with the Catalan club.
