Getting past the group stage in the UEFA Champions League was a significant achievement for FC Barcelona, especially considering the fact that they had been unable to do so for the last two years.

However, against all odds, the Catalans pushed themselves even further as they qualified to the quarter-finals of the tournament by beating Napoli with a 4-2 aggregate in the Round of 16.

The draw for the next round of the competition took place today, and as UEFA has officially announced, FC Barcelona will take on the French club Paris Saint Germain in the quarter-finals.

The first leg of this tie is scheduled for 10th April, which will take place at Parc de Princes, PSG’s home ground. The second leg is scheduled to take place at the Montjuic, and will take place on 16th April.

The winner from this tie will advance to the semi-finals, and face the winners from the quarter-final tie between Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. The side that advances from these four teams to the final will be considered the home team in the final.

Barcelona’s Spanish rivals, Real Madrid, will take on the Premier League giants Manchester City, while the current German champions, Bayern Munich, will face the Premier League side Arsenal to complete the quarter-final round of the competition. Thus, the entire round is full of exciting matches.

However, Barring the Real Madrid and Manchester City tie, the game between Barcelona and PSG will definitely be the most enticing match in this round. Barcelona have been on a resurgent trend for the last few weeks and will be looking to continue with this form to take on a team as difficult as PSG.

The history between the two clubs will further motivate both of them to give their best in this match. Barcelona had one of their most memorable nights, “The Remontada”, in the Champions League against PSG, and Culers have not forgotten the Parisiens for luring away Neymar Jr. from them in 2017.

Thus, both teams will have an added prize to fight for than just the reward of advancing to the semi-finals, which can give this tie an added flavor. This will also be an occasion for Barcelona fans to welcome their former manager Luis Enrique, who is currently managing PSG back to their home ground.
