The economic situation still remains a handicap for FC Barcelona, especially in regard to their market aspirations. The club has a very small margin to make additions in the winter window and will have to generate some extra income to meet its objectives for January.
The major objective for Barcelona in this winter window is the incorporation of Vitor Roque, but as things stand, Barcelona’s finances do not allow the Brazilian’s arrival and registration with La Liga.
Thus, Barcelona will have to ensure some extra income and also hope for a relaxation of the economic regulations of La Liga to meet this objective in January.
Barcelona to play a friendly in the USA
The club seems to have already done significant work for this extra income. FC Barcelona’s Vice President of Marketing, Juli Guiu, has confirmed in an interview with SPORT that the Catalans will be playing a friendly match in the United States in December.
In a separate report, the journalist Gerard Romero informed that this friendly will be played on 21st December in Dallas, and the opponents will be the Mexican team, Club America. The match will be played in the Cotton Bowl stadium, where Barcelona faced Juventus during the 2022 summer pre-season tour.
Barcelona has already played in Dallas this year
If this information turns out to be true, this will be the second time that Barcelona plays in Dallas this year. The Catalans already visited the city in the last summer pre-season, and have very good memories from this trip as they beat Real Madrid 3-0 in the AT&T Stadium.
In that match, Fermin Lopez announced himself to the world with a thundering goal. This friendly in Dallas will be the last piece of action for Xavi’s team, as their last official match this year will take place on 20th December, against Almeria.
Barcelona can ask La Liga to schedule their match on Saturday, so they can travel to and return from the USA before Christmas. After the break, Xavi’s men will return to action on 3rd January with a match against Las Palmas.
