FC Barcelona officials had to work extremely hard to meet the multiple objectives set by the club in the last summer transfer window. Ultimately, most of these objectives were met, and the Catalans were able to assemble a highly competitive team by the end of the transfer window despite the exit of important players like Dembele.

Now, after a relatively calm period in which the club has completed some important renewals, the planning for the next season has already begun.

Higher-ups at Barcelona are now pondering over the registrations and exits they will have to make in the upcoming summer window, to get everything clear and stay ahead of the highly competitive market.

Deco wants three signings in 2024

FC Barcelona need to work extra hard for the next season, as they also have the handicap of strained finances and the sword of FFP ever hanging above themselves, which means they have to be very careful with whatever business they undertake in the market. Thus, Barcelona will be trying to retain their most prized talent and still improve their squad in the coming months.

According to SPORT, Deco has three main areas lined out where he wants to bring in new players. The Sporting Director wants two new fullbacks, one for each flank, and a young pivot who can grow further and be a part of the first team at the same time.

Deco wants the fullbacks irrespective of whether Joao Cancelo remains with the club, and a pivot is also needed after the departure of Sergio Busquets, as Deco now wants to advance beyond Oriol Romeu, who was brought for a temporary role in the club.

Minimal investment

The investment in these signings will be minimal, and Barcelona are looking for players with some experience, who are willing to play a secondary role, and who can grow further at the club. In some cases, players from the subsidiary will also be given a chance.

These three are the priority positions to strengthen for Barcelona, but if their finance allows, the Catalans would also look for a winger. Xavi wants a player for the left wing, but players who specialize in this position warrant high sums of money, and an important sale might be needed to bring one in the next summer window.
