FC Barcelona had to endure another difficult night as they visited the Canary Islands to take on Las Palmas for their last La Liga game.

The Catalans were unable to get a goal in the first half, but luckily, Hansi Flick’s changes bore fruit in the second half as Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres scored the goals that gave the Blaugranes an essential victory that allowed them to retain their position at the top of the La Liga table.

Torres was introduced into the game only with five minutes left of regulation time, but still got himself a goal in the eight minutes of injury time added by the referee.

The former Manchester City forward received a great ball from Raphinha in the 90+5th minute, which bounced a bit ahead of him before he took a thunderous shot that shook the crossbar before making its way to the back of the net, confirming the win for Barcelona.

This game was another indication of the high efficiency and effectiveness that Ferran Torres is showing this season. As Mundo Deportivo has noted, this was his 11th goal of the season, which he scored having played only a total of 952 minutes on the pitch, meaning the winger is scoring every 87th minute.

Torres has started only three games since his return from injury back in November but has been able to score in all of these three games while having added another six goals when getting on the pitch from the bench.

Currently, he is the third top scorer in the Barcelona squad, despite having played less than 1000 minutes for a team that has scored 116 goals in total this season.

It is easy to understand why he is unable to make a place for himself in the starting line-up, where Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha are putting up some historic numbers for their team, but still, there is no doubt that Torres remains a highly important player for Flick from the bench.
