FC Barcelona are in the middle of a season that has not exactly gone to plan. Recent results on the field have been hardly promising, even despite the few instances of brilliance put on display. However, there are those within Barcelona that head into the future with a very agitated mindset.

Xavi Hernandez is hardly a universally loved coach. Criticism from various media sources has plagued his current managerial tenure as well as faith in his Barcelona team. However, perhaps the most important person to keep on his side was Barcelona president Joan Laporta, and even that support seems to be wavering.

According to the latest information provided by SPORT, the Barcelona president is quite ‘angry’ with Xavi’s management recently. A man quite passionate about Barça, Laporta seems to have an incredibly emotional attachment to the club.

In the game against Royal Antwerp, Laporta was especially frustrated about the decision to have players rested. According to the president, reportedly, the image that Xavi created following the defeat to Antwerp showed that certain losses have no consequences. However, Laporta remains firmly against this thought.

Even after the loss to Real Madrid, Laporta did not appreciate the gesture of Xavi to give his players two days off. The Barcelona president wants to be clear about consequences, and believes that every loss should have accountability.

Growing tensions within the club are widely being reported, but things must change for the better sooner rather than later.

Despite the Antwerp game being seen as inconsequential, it still cost Barcelona a few millions that they could have won. Given the fragile economic state of the club, Laporta demands excellence wherever it is achievable from Xavi’s side.

A lot has already been sacrificed to build this competitive squad, and thus far the results are not promising. For now, Xavi seems to retain the faith of Laporta but only just. Major victories are expected of Barcelona this season, and no one knows how much time Xavi has left to turn the tides in his favor.
