In the current squad that FC Barcelona possesses, there are certain stars that stand out more than others. While the Catalan club consists of several elite talents, there are those select few that manage to catch the eye with their performances.

Two such players arrived in this recent summer transfer window. Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid and Joao Cancelo from Manchester City arrived on the last day of the window. Despite only being loan signings eligible to play for Barça until the end of the campaign, their influence is undeniable.

Portuguese Sensations

In fact, their presence has been so remarkable that even Barcelona’s President can not shy away from having to talk about them. As highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, the topic of the two loaned stars was brought up with Joan Laporta.

Speaking to Catalunya Radio, the President had only positive things to say. Asked if the performance of the two had satisfied him and if retaining them beyond this season was an objective, Laporta replied:

“If they continue to play like this, we will have to make an effort to sign the Joaos, but it all depends on what Deco says.”

Admirer of Joao Felix

Moreover, Laporta even singled out Felix as a particular favorite of his and how he wants Barça to have the best players. He claimed:

“I always want the best players to stay with us, and personally, I have liked Joao Félix for a long time.”

Influential for Barcelona

So far this season, both Joaos have had a significant impact and their numbers reflect that. For Cancelo, 2 goals and an assist in 6 La Liga appearances is already a great tally for a fullback. On the other hand, Joao Felix has scored once in La Liga as well as provided 2 assists. Furthermore, he already has two goals and one assist in two UEFA Champions League appearances.

Moreover, both stars continue to shine at the international level as well. Included in a recent team of the European Qualifiers round, both Portuguese stars made the final eleven. Against Kazakhstan in their latest international fixture, both Barcelona stars provided a stunning display with goals galore.
