Now that the summer transfer window heats up and finds itself moving on all four cylinders, FC Barcelona must continue their own conquest of improving their team in order to continue competing next season. One of the most tricky situations in terms of improvements is that of Lionel Messi and his rather complicated arrival back to the Catalan club.
The Argentine forward is currently contracted to French side Paris Saint Germain till the end of June this year, after which he would be free to negotiate a transfer to whichever club, within Europe or outside, he chooses to go to. As it stands, the relationship between the two parties continues to be addressed as not too positive, despite Lionel Messi having recently appeared in promotional content for the Ligue 1 champions.
As it stands, there are several emerging reports stating that he is convinced by the offer from the Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, with some reports even stating that he has accepted a two-year deal with the Middle Eastern side worth around €1.2 billion.
According to Ivan San Antonio of SPORT however, it seems that as reports and news keeps on coming trying to direct Messi away from Barcelona within the media, the club’s president, Joan Laporta, has taken it upon himself to ensure that he corrects the one dent on his recent tenure that possibly continues to haunt him to this day: failing to renew Lionel Messi in 2021.
As per the report, the president has himself given orders within the club’s various departments to accelerate and prioritize the arrival of Lionel Messi prior to meeting any other transfer objective. The president believes the player is going to catapult the side’s evolution both in terms of a sporting addition as well as provide the entity with a massive financial boost.
