FC Barcelona have on their plates a number of varying contractual and sporting decisions to be made. The timing has now become crucial and it has become evident that some tough decisions will have to be made taking into account the current complications with financial fair play.
The departure of certain players seems imminent and the latest advancement of negotiations with a player’s entourage would suggest some discussion on the matter. Barcelona most recently met with the representative of Ansu Fati’s camp, Bori Fati.
Bori Fati, the father of Ansu Fati was involved in a meeting with Barcelona’s higher-ups that included the likes of Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff as per the reports from SPORT. The meeting reportedly lasted an entire hour and seems to have discussed some very crucial details and revelations.
Both the father of the player as well as his agent, Jorge Mendes, are now more inclined towards their son and client, respectively, leaving the Catalan club for a future elsewhere. The Portuguese super-agent has already offered the player to other English clubs and within the Premier League and he continues to attract interest from those clubs.
A particular scenario that SPORT reports is the reported interest of Manchester United, who are said to be even more inclined towards the player given his current sporting situation. The player himself is currently unsatisfied with his role in the Barcelona squad and considers the option of plying his trade elsewhere if his situation does not improve.
In the scenario that Jorge Mendes is able to present Barcelona with a suitable economic offer for the player, they will be willing to change their original stance of him preferably staying with the club and instead looking to capitalize on the revenue that would be generated.
On the complete contrary however, reliable journalist Helena Condis has more recently revealed that this hour-long meeting between representatives from the board and the father of Ansu Fati did not even touch the subject of a potential departure and instead was a meeting solely focused on concerns from the player’s camp regarding his limited game time.
In accordance, Alemany reportedly assured Bori Fati that all of the players and their respective participation is solely a technical decision made by Xavi Hernandez and his coaching staff. The player will get more chances as time passes, and it is up to him to cement his own place back into the starting eleven.
Based on Helena’s dependability as a reliable source of news, the latter report would likely have been the true status of the meeting. However, a potential sale can not still be ruled out due to the rather fragile economic conditions surrounding the club. This additional revenue would then aid in their quest of overcoming their current restrictions at the hands of financial fair play and give them more room to operate in the summer transfer window.
