FC Barcelona have had their eyes on Manchester City’s whirlpool of talents for a while now. From previously acquiring Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and Ferran Torres, the club is now heavily interested in the Cityzen’s midfield department.
Pep Guardiola has always paid emphasis on building a strong midfield. At Manchester City, he is blessed with incredible talents like Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, and Kevin de Bruyne.
In addition to being highly interested in Gundogan, Barcelona are rumored to be a possible detonation for Bernardo as well, following a potential departure. According to SPORT, the Portuguese will look for an exit from City this summer.
The Catalans have had their eyes set on Bernardo for a while now and last summer made several advancements for the player.
Bernardo even requested an exit, but the English side asked him to continue for another season. This time, with a treble up for grabs, Bernardo believes a cycle is nearing completion and this has alerted possible suitors.
PSG are reported to be one of the clubs also eyeing the midfielder’s situation. With financial backing, the Parisians are better equipped to complete his arrival.
However, Bernardo prefers the Spanish League and also has ample admirers in Barcelona. Moreover, he was previously considered as a plan B in the scenario that Messi’s homecoming collapsed.
Before persisting for Bernardo, Barcelona must first carry out a multitude of exit operations as they are in a delicate state financially. Following the approval of the Viability Plan by La Liga, the execution of departures has to be implemented if any newcomers are to be signed.
Barcelona will face many more complications compared to their competitors when it comes to achieving Bernardo’s signature, but the summer is long and the club has invariably shown interest in the player.
