FC Barcelona have won the La Liga title of the 2022/2023 season, but their preparation for next season has already begun. To contest for even more competitions next season, the Blaugrana outfit will first need to ensure departures so they can then ensure arrivals later on.
As per trusted Catalan journalist Gerard Romero, there has come the revelation that there are three players that the club has already decided to sell if an adequate offer arrives for them over the summer. Moreover, the sales of these players will help generate substantial revenue should the right offers be accepted.
The three players in question are Spanish duo Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres, alongside Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie. The latter was brought in on a free from AC Milan last season and any income that would be generated from his sales would count as profit for the club.
In terms of performances, Kessie has been reliable when called upon this season so it seems to be a more stylistic or perhaps simply economical departure if it ends up happening.
The case of Ansu Fati is peculiar on the other hand. Once the foundation of a new generation of FC Barcelona stars, he has plummeted in recent seasons courtesy of a couple of career-altering injuries.
Now hesitant as well as having lost his dynamism, the Spanish youngster’s future was constantly contemplated over recent weeks. Now, however, it seems that a departure is what the club believes to be best for both Barcelona and the player.
Lastly, it is ex-Manchester City man Ferran Torres who Barcelona will look to sell over the summer. Brought in for a fee of around €55 million during the winter market of last season, Ferran Torres has had a mixed reception during his time as a Blaugrana thus far. Applauded by some for his awareness and positioning, while he is ridiculed by others for his at times frustrating finishing.
It may be hard for FC Barcelona to recoup the amount they paid to acquire the Spaniard, but any substantial amount that they can extract from his possible departure would aid the club in their quest to activate their Feasibility Plan and execute their operations for the summer.
It seems that while these three may be headed out, the club still remains uncertain about Brazilian winger Raphinha, who may bring in a high fee should he be transferred at the moment but he also remains a quality player to have at Barca’s disposal, no matter how big or small that role may be that the coaching staff see him in for next season.
