With FC Barcelona set to increase urgency during the closing stages of the summer transfer window, the Catalan giants are looking to wrap up pending operations as soon as possible to avoid any delays further than required, particularly as they look to begin cementing their objectives for this season.

One key target and objective for FC Barcelona remains the incorporation of Manchester City and Portugal National team fullback Joao Cancelo within the Barcelona setup, with the Catalan giants continuing negotiations for the 29-year-old with Manchester City.

As such, Barcelona have already presented their latest official offer to Manchester City according to Spanish outlet SPORT, a proposal that sees the Catalan giants pay up €30 million to Manchester City at the end of a season-long loan in June of 2024 as an option to purchase the player permanently.

However, friction arises from the Manchester City camp as they wish to permanently cut ties with the 29-year-old Portuguese player this very summer, with either a direct purchase or a significant fee with an obligation to buy rather than it being optional for Barcelona.

The Catalans are willing to introduce certain objectives that, if met, would ensure that Barcelona have a mandatory purchase applied to the loan of the Portuguese fullback. Although the player is already willing to lower his salary, Manchester City remain the significant hurdle to get past.

Both Cancelo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, continue to push for his exit and are positive that a favorable final agreement for all parties will end up being reached. Moreover, if Mendes can close down the renewal of Bernardo Silva soon, Manchester City could be willing to give further leeway to the Barcelona advances and Mendes’s attempts.

However, FC Barcelona have already communicated to Jorge Mendes that there is a deadline for this operation by the end of this week, after which the Catalans would be forced to look elsewhere for alternatives given that around only ten days would be left in a summer window where Barcelona definitely need to acquire a right-back.
