The signing of one German midfielder seems to have reached a turning point, with previously unattainable contractual conditions now more attainable, the signing seems to be reaching its final stages.

Ilkay Gundogan, Manchester City’s 32-year-old German midfielder, is set to see his contract expire on June 30 with the Citizens, after which he would be free to negotiate his transfer with any club of his choosing.

As previously reported, the player will not be finalizing his decision regarding his next club until after the German has finished the season with Manchester City. As it stands, Pep Guardiola and his side are still in contention for a historic treble at the time of writing.

They are set to face Real Madrid in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, Manchester United in the FA Cup final, and are four games away from winning the Premier League.

Following these agreements with Gundogan, Barcelona are still yet to be given the official green light by La Liga and Javier Tebas, after which would they be able to pursue their various transfer targets over the course of the summer.
