Various possibilities continue to exist for FC Barcelona in terms of the players that they could still decide to bring in during the remainder of the summer transfer window in order to reinforce their side for the upcoming season.

A key position that the Catalan club wishes to reinforce is that of the right-back position alongside a recruit in a more offensive region that would end up being the hypothetical landmark signing for Joan Laporta’s new Barcelona.

The players currently in question for being that particular marquee signing are PSG forward Neymar Jr and Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix, with a major margin in the financial allowance being kept aside for a possible signing of theirs.

However, in terms of the right-back position, Barcelona continue to have various options from which they hope to find the right candidate for their objectives in the upcoming season, with various players such as Juan Foyth, Ivan Fresneda, and Pablo Maffeo all being possible options to assess.

Yet, the primary target for Xavi Hernandez has always been Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, but the operation for the 29-year-old has been complicated due to the intricacies of dealing with his English club despite having agreed personal terms with the player.

In the latest update however, according to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona will be aided by the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, in coming up with a solution in relation to the ability of Barcelona’s finances that would then entail the offer the agent is able to convince Manchester City to be willing to accept in order to part ways with Cancelo.

Initially, City had asked for a loan fee that was unfeasible for Barcelona and thus the talks had stalled and died down to an extent, but it appears that the operation may well be reactivated with the possibility of Cancelo’s arrival as a right-back for the Catalan club gaining momentum.

For now, it is understood within FC Barcelona that the Blaugrana club will indefinitely sign a right-back this summer alongside another recruit in order to give Xavi Hernandez a better chance at overcoming the hurdles that the Catalan giants are expected to go up against in this upcoming campaign.
