Although the club is going through a difficult period sportingly and economically, FC Barcelona still remain one of the biggest and most alluring footballing institutions in the world. Their history and stature in football make them one of the clubs that footballers throughout the world dream of playing for.
This status was key for Barcelona as they signed Vitor Roque in the last summer transfer window, despite the cutthroat competition from richer clubs like Manchester City, who were willing to offer better economic and sporting terms to the Brazilian.
Now another highly-rated defender has shown a desire to play in the famed blue and garnet jersey. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the agent of the Romanian center-back Radu Dragusin recently commented on the player’s aspirations:
“We were close to signing with Bayern, which is among the biggest, but his dream is Real Madrid or Barcelona.”
The Romanian had been closely linked with Bayern Munich in the last few weeks, but is now close to a move to the Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.
With Genoa, the 21-year-old Dragusin has made 19 appearances up to this point in the season, and despite playing as a center-back, has scored two goals and given one assist.
In addition to the center of the backline, Dragusin can also play on the flanks. Transfermarkt currently values him at €20 million, but his move to Tottenham can exceed the €30 million mark in total.
With Tottenham, the Romanian will be playing in one of the most competitive football leagues in the world, and his true talent and skills will surely be put to the test in the highly demanding Premier League.
If he performs well in London, he might go on to live his dream and sign for one of the Spanish giants, i.e., Barcelona or Real Madrid.
