As FC Barcelona continue to emphasize youth as an integral part of the club’s squad going forward, there have been some very good additions made by the Catalans in their youth teams in recent times.

One of the players who joined the club’s reserve team in the last summer transfer window was the Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye. The now 19-year-old has been an integral part of the Barcelona Atletic since his arrival at the Catalan club and has been highly impressive in the 17 appearances made up to now.

However, while these appearances with the Barcelona B team have been a positive sign for the Blaugranes, other clubs have also noticed Faye’s performances and his demand in the market has increased.

In fact, the trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the French club RC Lens has already submitted a formal bid for the young defender for a loan with the obligation to buy him at the end of this loan. This will be a €8-9 million package in total.

Barcelona have not yet informed Lens of their decision about the bid, but up to now, the Catalans have been very clear about any approaches made for the youngster.

All previous proposals trying to lure the youngster away from the club have been rejected by the Blaugranes, as they see the defender as a player who can turn out to be a highly valuable asset in the future.

Pau Cubarsi, who has been playing with Faye in the center of the defense for Barcelona Atletic, has been getting significant time with the first team in recent weeks, especially with the injuries suffered by other main Barcelona defenders.

Cubarsi has been playing at a very high level in these matches, and if luck is on his side and if the Senegalese defender stays, he might also get the opportunity to play with the first team in the coming months.
