A lot of eyes have been on FC Barcelona in recent weeks as they continue to be one of Europe’s most in-form teams. Beyond just the fact that they are the current leaders in La Liga, the team continues to play some of the most scintillating football across Europe’s top leagues. However, it must still be remembered that this Barcelona squad is a depleted one despite their achievements masking the team’s limits.
That is because several of the team’s most important players are currently sidelined due to injuries or discomfort. Once they return, Hansi Flick will finally have access to a near-full strength Barcelona side that he has not had the opportunity of getting to manage thus far.
Fortunately for the Catalan club, positive news has gradually started to arrive. First came the news concerning the returning players ahead of the game against Sevilla, and then medical tests also managed to rule out injuries for both Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski.
Now, however, these positive updates have taken a big step forward yet again. As highlighted by SPORT, the likes of Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski have all managed to train normally with the group on the grass today and seemed to have no visible issues.
Following the recent international break, there was a lot of doubt and worry over the conditions of both Yamal and Lewandowski in particular. With both players having been seen clearly limping, the alarms had begun to ring at Barcelona but, fortunately for the club, there will be no long-term injuries to worry about this time.
Alongside Olmo, Yamal, and Lewandowski, even the likes of Gavi and Fermin Lopez were involved in the group training. At the moment, the return of all these players is reportedly a guarantee for the games against both Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League and against Real Madrid in La Liga, but the closest match against Sevilla still maintains some uncertainties.
It will ultimately be the decision of Hansi Flick that dictates which players are included in the squad list for that game and which players are given some extra rest. Given how dangerous injuries could be for the remainder of this season for Barcelona, the German coach will have some big calls to make.
