Barcelona had several players involved with their National teams during the recent international break. Many stars went off to Europe, while others participated in games in South America. However, every talent that was called up got their respective chance to shine.
Yet, while there are understandable positives, there are also several hindrances. Players often tend to get injured while on international duty, and this is always a concern for their clubs.
However, Barcelona defender and Danish National team player Andreas Christensen managed to avoid that unfortunate possibility. In the latest game for Denmark, the 26-year-old defender was not used for even a single minute as per a report from Spanish outlet SPORT.
With Denmark more or less in a good spot to qualify already for the Euros, their last qualifier game for this break saw Christensen rested against Kazakhstan. Due to this, the Dane gets even more time to recover and make it back to FC Barcelona.
Moreover, with the upcoming game for Barcelona set to take place on the 22nd, Christensen will be fully fit. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Montjuic Stadium, and Barcelona will want to ensure all three points. With Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen both returning without any unwanted injuries, Barcelona have breathed a little.
An injury to Jules Kounde already sees Barcelona only have three specialist centre-backs available. However, Pau Cubarsi and Mikayil Faye of the subsidiary are two names that definitely need to have an eye kept on their progress.
Marcos Alonso also exists as a player that can be used as a central defender. However, depending on Alejandro Balde’s fitness for the game, he may even have to play in the left-back position. Christensen and Ronald Araujo do seem to look like the ideal candidates to start the game in the center of the defense, however.
