FC Barcelona are steadfast in their pursuit of RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo this summer. The club has identified the 26-year-old as a priority target this summer as they look to bring him back to a club he called home until 10 years ago.
We covered a story a few days ago about Barcelona launching an improved bid for Olmo. Blaugranas’ new bid was around €55m guaranteed, with €4m easy add-ons and €3m difficult add-ons, which was close to the player’s now expired release clause.
With no response from the German club yet, Barcelona continue to wait as they look to wrap up the Olmo deal and tie him down to the club until 2030. As per Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish club is confident of the player’s arrival this summer.
The report adds that Olmo’s agents are already on their way to Germany as they look to act as the links to negotiate a smooth transfer for their client. RB Leipzig need to be convinced about Barcelona’s payment structure and the variables in the deal.
Barcelona are trying to get the deal done by August 8, which is the day Olmo is expected to return to pre-season with RB Leipzig following his post-Euros vacation. The Catalan club wants him to be a part of their team by then.
Olmo was a star for Spain in the recently concluded Euros. He finished as the joint top-scorer of the tournament despite not being a starter for much of it. RB Leipzig know that they have a star on their hands with the 26-year-old.
At Barcelona, there is no real dearth of options in attacking midfield, which is Olmo’s favored position. However, his versatility makes him a crucial asset to Hansi Flick who could also choose to deploy him on the left wing.
Signing someone like Olmo will energize the team ahead of the new season. He would perfectly fit into the style that Flick is building at Barcelona and let’s hope we get this deal over the line in the coming days.
