It would be almost unfaithful to the foundations of Barcelona as it is today if the youth players were ever given up on. The talent that emerges from the club’s youth teams and academy remains the reason it is afloat today. Without the Barcelona youngsters, the Catalan club would possibly have been in a much worse place today.

Over the years, whether it be the arrival of the club’s golden age or simply the saviors that came along to rescue the club from turmoil, La Masia and the Barça youth setup has always protected the future and continuity of the Catalan giants.

That is why, even today, Barça can not afford to ever give up on that promised future. New players continue to be brought in and nurtured, while the very best from those already learning are renewed and a partnership is formed that carries on to the next few years.

The second scenario is exactly what Barcelona have managed to accomplish with Oscar Gistau. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have managed to renew the promising 16-year-old striker until 2027, ensuring that he continues at the club for a few more seasons.

One of the standout performers in both Juvenil B and Juvenil A, Barça are willing to bet on his future with the club because he simply offers them quality at a level that exceeds his peers. With this renewal, the 16-year-old forward is expected to become a proper member of Juvenil A next season.

However, his aspirations do not stop there, as the young striker wants to earn a place under Rafa Marquez in Barcelona Atletic as well. With Marc Guiu now gone, there is a good chance that Gistau could prove his worth to the club and climb up the ranks faster than previously possible.

Moreover, with both Guiu and Pau Victor no longer at the club, it made sense for Barcelona to continue putting their faith in Gistau. In the case of Victor, however, there is still some semblance of optimism that he may return to the Catalan giants if Barça can find an agreement with Girona.

As for Gistau, his story at Barcelona is only just beginning. For now, his purpose is to serve Juvenil A and do so with all the qualities that he possesses. In case he manages to impress the club and his senior coaches enough, there is no telling what heights and achievements the young striker may set up for himself in the coming years.
