Barcelona reportedly set price tag for Ronald Araujo

As FC Barcelona continue to plan their squad for the next season, one thing that they can be sure of is they do not need any more center-backs in their team.

There is already an excess of specialists for this position present in the first team, with Araujo, Kounde, Christensen, Cubarsi, and Inigo Martinez already available to Xavi, while Eric Garcia and Clement Lenglet will be returning from their loans this summer, and Mikayil Faye can also no longer be ignored.

From among these defenders, Xavi has already told Eric Garcia that he is counting on him and Inigo Martinez that he is not leaving. There are also no doubts about Cubarsi, but the same cannot be said for the rest of these defenders.

In such a situation, FC Barcelona will be tempted to sell one or more players from this position to get some much-needed funds and lighten their wage bill, and as things stand, Ronald Araujo is the most likely to leave the club this summer.

Several factors make the Uruguayan a good candidate for a sale, including his high demand in the market, the fact that the entire income from his sale will be a profit, and the club might have to increase his wages if he stays.

Although Barcelona have not actively worked on his departure for now, they are hopeful that offers for the defender will start coming in the near future. Furthermore, as reported by SPORT, the Catalans will demand €100 million for the 25-year-old Uruguayan defender.

Bayern Munich is the best-suited side to sign him, while there is also strong interest in him from the Premier League, with Manchester United once again looking to reinforce their defensive ranks.

The Bavarians are also likely to offer better wages to Araujo, which will pave his way out of Barcelona, and this operation will provide the Catalans with the required resources to pursue their priority targets in the market.

In fact, there is already a meeting scheduled between Araujo’s agent and Deco in the coming days, and only a radical turn of events can remove the transferable sign next to his name, i.e., the sale of other defenders like Kounde, Christensen, or Faye that would generate a similar amount of money.
