FC Barcelona continue to close down various operations involving the Catalan club this summer while other clubs simultaneously work to solve and overcome their own sporting hurdles during the window.
At times, operations concerning other clubs can also have parallel effects on the proceedings conducted by FC Barcelona. Whether it be through sell-on clauses, future rights, or similar links that keep a player connected to their former club, operations such as those exist within the current age of football transfers.
A player that has such a connection linking him to Barcelona is former La Masia defender Mika Marmol, who played last season donning the jersey of FC Andorra following his departure to the club as Barca maintained 50% of the player’s future rights.
Now however, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the player will be returning to Catalonia only to then depart his former club once more to join fellow La Liga outfit UD Las Palmas.
The 22-year-old defender will continue to have 50% of his future rights secured by Barcelona according to Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez.
Moreover, he also confirmed the possibility of the operation being made official soon when he stated that, “Between today and tomorrow two more defenders will arrive (at Las Palmas) and one of them will be Mika Marmol.”
Through this operation, instead of a transfer fee being included the remaining instalments left to be paid for the transfer of Barcelona youngster Pedri will be foregone.
It is also interesting to note that another Barcelona defender is set to ply his trade for Las Palmas as well, being none other than former MLS arrival and Mexican National team fullback Julian Araujo, as he looks set to gain more game time before he returns to Barcelona following his one season loan.
