With all the injuries to their first-team stars, players from FC Barcelona youth ranks have played an important role this season. Players like Fermin Lopez and Lamine Yamal have been integral for Xavi in the last few games, especially the former, as Barcelona’s midfield has been extremely thin with Frenkie and Pedri’s injuries.

Thus, Barcelona continues to benefit from excellent talent development at the youth level, and as Xavi recently stated, the best Barcelona teams all had a meaningful representation of La Masia in their ranks.

However, their performances with the Barcelona first team are not the only way in which the club benefits from these youngsters.

Miranda closing a move to AC Milan

The Catalans frequently are able to sell the youngsters they do not need in their squad for good prices, and an opportunity for Barcelona is opening up to gain once again from a player developed at their academy.

According to SPORT, Juan Miranda, who developed at Barcelona’s youth ranks but later joined Real Betis is on the verge of a move away from the Verdiblanco club. The report mentions that Miranda’s contract at Betis ends in the coming June, but AC Milan are willing to come to an agreement with Real Betis to get the fullback in January.

Barcelona to get around €1.2 million

If such a move actually materializes, Barcelona would also earn a part of the fee as they had retained a 40% share of the fee from any future transfer when they sold the youngster to Betis in 2021.

Reports from Italy indicate that Barcelona are likely to earn around €1.2 million from this transfer, as the transfer is expected to materialize with a fee of €3 million in total.

While not too much, this will definitely be a welcome boost for Barcelona’s ailing finances. This income can contribute to one of the club’s main objectives for the winter, i.e., the incorporation of Vitor Roque.
