FC Barcelona have made a good start to life under Hansi Flick and despite their first loss in the league in the eighth game of the season, the club continues to keep going strong with their objectives. Much of the team’s success this season has to be attributed to the attack.
The likes of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Dani Olmo (when fit) have really stepped up in attack. Against Osasuna on the weekend, when the former two were rested, Barcelona looked toothless in attack.
However, that game served as a reminder that apart from Yamal and Raphinha, there aren’t players in Barcelona who can provide the same kind of width with both Ferran Torres and Pau Victor looking to operate as inside forwards.
Thus, Barcelona could look to sign a backup winger who is a natural dribbler and provide cover to Lamine and Raphinha. As per Fichajes, the club has set its sights on stealing talented Copenhagen FC winger Roony Bardghi from under Atletico Madrid’s nose.
The Swedish youngster was linked with a move to Barcelona back in December 2023, although nothing came of it back then. The €9m-rated teenager has since gone on to get better at his game and would be a good addition.
Bardghji’s contract ends in 2025 and the 18-year-old might be available on a free transfer next summer. Signing a super talent for free would be a serious coup for Barcelona and it comes as no surprise that they are interested in him.
The only thing with the Swedish teenager is that he is almost exclusively left-footed and operates from the right, looking to cut in onto his favored foot. This could make him one-dimensional and predictable if he does not go on the outside at times.
That said, Bardghji needs to look at Raphinha for inspiration. When he came to Barcelona, the Brazilian too was a similar player who looked comfortable only operating from the right but has since learned to adapt to become a much more potent version of himself. Let’s wait and see if the club signs Bardghi on a free next summer.
