While FC Barcelona does maintain its position as a competitive team sportingly, there exist limitations financially. They continue to scour through Europe and even beyond to find the most cost-efficient targets they can to reinforce their currently cash-strapped team.
According to a report by SPORT, a certain player who has seemingly popped up on the FC Barcelona radar is a certain Brazilian genius by the name of Raphael Veiga, who continues to flourish in the realms of Brazilian football.
Contracted to Brazilian club Palmeiras, the 27-year-old has been labeled by SPORT as being one of the “best footballers in South America in his position”. An attacking midfielder by specialty, he contributes not only through skill but also statistical aid. Having scored 10 goals and provided 8 assists this season in 23 games, his tally speaks for itself.
Analyzing his numbers over a longer period of time, however, the stats become even more impressive. Since 2020, the year the player is believed to have found his best version, the attacking midfielder has managed to score 67 goals and provide 25 assists.
A left-footed and creative midfielder, Veiga’s style of play is believed to be one that is quite adaptable to that of Xavi’s Barcelona. Should he be acquired by La Blaugrana, his integration into the side would not be too big of an issue given his personal level.
Moreover, reports suggest that despite the interest of various European clubs beginning to pile up gradually for the player, his price would be around €15 million, a value much more feasible for a club like FC Barcelona which is currently dealing with balancing their books.
As for now, Barca continue to wait for the direct approval of their proposed “Feasibility Plan” that La Liga and Javier Tebas are set to review and approve. That approval will consequently dictate a lot of the actions that Barcelona will make as a result during the transfer window and it will subsequently dictate the arrivals and departures for the club.
