While the Catalan club is still not fully out of choppy waters, FC Barcelona have made significant progress towards improving the club’s financial health.
The Blaugranes significantly slashed their wage bill by €161.7 million, reducing it from €566.4 million to €404.7 million compared to the previous year.
Barcelona looking to go net positive next year
Now Barcelona have set their sights on the objectives for the upcoming financial year. According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona are looking to close the 2023-24 season with a net profit of precisely €11 million, without counting the income from levers.
The board is currently working to end the 2022-23 financial year with an income of €1.225 billion, but this amount includes the levers that have been activated this year.
Barcelona to remain under the 1:1.5 rule for now
These numbers are in line with what the La Liga President, Javier Tebas, communicated recently. These calculations take into consideration the fact that Barcelona has significantly improved its wage bill but it still has a salary-spending ratio of 1:1.5 at La Liga.
These results were expected by Barcelona, and there has been no surprise in this regard. Now, Laporta and his administration is working to ensure that the club’s income can reach such a limit next season that it gets to the 1:1 rule by next summer.
One formidable barrier that the club would face in this pursuit would be the circumstances surrounding Camp Nou. The stadium will still take a year and a half before matches can be scheduled there, but Laporta and his team are optimistic that they can compensate this amount with sponsorships and new sources of income.
