Having successfully completed their transfer operations before the summer transfer window ended, FC Barcelona now have a number of renewals to take care of on their agenda.
The prime priority of the club currently is to renew the head coach, Xavi Hernandez, who will be extending his Barcelona contract for another year. Furthermore, the club is also looking to renew the contracts of two of its players, Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde.
Balde to officially renew his contract
As already reported here, both these players had already signed their new contracts with FC Barcelona before departing for the USA with the team. Mateu Alemany oversaw this contract signing ceremony, and the parents of both these players were also present.
Now, Mundo Deportivo has revealed the time when the contract of one of these players will officially be renewed. According to its report, Balde’s new contract with Barcelona will formally be signed next Thursday.
The report mentions that this is the date the club and player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, set. Thus, Mendes will be in Barcelona on that day and will be present at the formal contract signing ceremony of the player, which will be followed by a traditional photo session with President Joan Laporta and the new Sporting Director, Deco.
New contract with Barcelona
After this formal renewal with the club, Balde will see his wages increase and will be tied with Barcelona till June 2028. His current contract runs till 2024, but his continuity with the club was already guaranteed in July this year when he got his new salary conditions implemented. His new release clause will be €1 billion.
With this renewal, Barcelona will have one of their primary objectives for the short-term achieved successfully. This renewal will allow Barcelona to retain one of the youngest and most highly rated fullbacks in Europe, who has already been approached by sides like Manchester City.
