The latest sensation to arise out of La Masia and become a regular member of the first team of FC Barcelona, Lamine Yamal, is seeing his importance growing with every match that the Catalan team plays.
In the last match against Sevilla, he was key once again, as it was his header that ultimately led the ball into the net. However, there was an interference from Sergio Ramos in this sequence, which means that Yamal still has yet to score a goal with Barcelona.
Barcelona to officially renew Yamal tomorrow
He will now be looking to reach this milestone in the match against Porto in the midweek Champions League group stage clash. However, there is another important event awaiting the youngster.
As SPORT has reported, FC Barcelona will be officially announcing the renewal of Lamine Yamal tomorrow, two days before the match with Porto. The event will be held without the presence of media and will have the protocol of a grassroots-level player’s renewal, keeping in view Yamal’s age.
Yamal’s new contract
As already reported here, Yamal, along with Balde, had already signed his renewal with Barcelona before they embarked on the USA pre-season tour with the rest of the team. Tomorrow, this contract will be made official, which will see Yamal committing to the club till June 2026 and having a clause of €1 billion.
This new contract will see his association increase with Barcelona for three years, as FIFA does not allow players of his age category to sign longer contracts. However, the Catalans already have an agreement with Yamals’ agent, Jorge Mendes, to extend this contract till 2030 once it becomes possible for the player to do so.
Yamal had a number of offers on the table, but Barcelona were able to come to an agreement with him, particularly because of Deco, who has a great friendship with Jorge Mendes and his right-hand man, Sergio Alves.
