The final hours of the summer transfer window are now upon FC Barcelona as the Catalan giants of Spain look to conclude their priority operations and finalize any pending agreements that could allow the Blaugrana club to ensure the arrivals that they wish to bring in.
At the moment, the arrival of 29-year-old Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo remains the absolute priority to be concluded at the soonest. The quicker Barcelona are able to give the green light from the perspective of Financial Fairplay, the sooner the club will be able to welcome the Portuguese fullback in Barcelona.
However, it appears that Barcelona do not intend to stop just there, as a very reliable source now ensures that the operation for an international teammate of Cancelo’s is also very much alive from the perspective of both the Catalan club and the targeted player himself.
According to information provided by the ever-reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, FC Barcelona will look to initiate and accelerate the operation for 23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix in the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window.
As per the details provided, the Blaugrana higher-ups continue to work on finding an adequate solution keeping in mind the limitations of FFP, and are hoping to reach one that can enable them to bring in the Portuguese star on loan.
Romano also reiterated his previous message that Felix continues to prioritize a move to Barcelona first and foremost. Having already publicly stated that he has a massive desire to represent Barcelona at a stage in his career, this operation has been in the making for quite some time.
However, Romano has stated that in the scenario that the negotiations with La Blaugrana end up falling through, Joao Felix would only then consider the possibility of a move to Saudi Arabia or other suitors before the end of the transfer window as he remains out of favor at current club Atletico Madrid.
