It is not uncommon to see FC Barcelona keeping an eye on future targets beforehand. Many elite clubs do this with the intention of having a roadmap to guarantee the arrival of a top player. However, in the case of Barcelona, it becomes even more crucial due to their economic predicament.
One of the positions in which they hope to recruit a top player in the future remains the winger role. At the moment, Raphinha is far from the player that Barcelona had hoped he would turn out to be when they signed him. Thus, La Blaugrana have kept their eyes open for possible players that fit the profile they need.
Among the shortlisted targets, Leroy Sane was one who stood out a lot. The German winger, aged 28, continues to be an outlet of great explosiveness and effectiveness for Bayern Munich. There are traits that Barcelona highly value in their wingers, and Sane thus entices them alot as a possible arrival.
Moreover, another major reason behind him becoming one of Barça’s primary targets is his contractual situation. With the player unwilling to provide clarity over his contract ending in 2025, Barcelona saw this as an opportunity to make a move.
However, according to the latest information by SPORT, it seems that Barcelona may be left without their German desire. Having changed agents recently, switching from a mutual one with Marcos Alonso to a new agent who also manages Jamal Musiala and has great ties with Bayern Munich, Sane may have possibly closed the door to Barcelona.
This could now lead to the former Manchester City winger renewing with Bayern Munich and closing all doors to a move to Barcelona. For the Catalan giants, this could come as a big blow. Given the dissatisfaction with Raphinha’s evolution and how he could become one of the departures in the summer, Barcelona need a top winger to arrive in the team.
However, given their financial limitations, that remains a tough ask. In Sane’s case, the German has not closed the door to just a move to Barcelona, but also to Liverpool and Chelsea, who were also quite attracted to the prospect of securing the services of the German winger.
