As the summer transfer window draws near to its conclusion, FC Barcelona continue to work with urgency and intent to close pending operations in order to ensure a reinforced Catalan squad is available at Xavi’s disposal by the end of the month.
Key players that are still in the loop for Barcelona include the likes of Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo, Villarreal’s Juan Foyth, and Ivan Fresneda among others.
However, it appears that FC Barcelona could lose out on another key operation that several reports had suggested the Catalan club was working on, with the player involved in said operation being none other than 31-year-old Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr.
According to the latest details and updates provided by trusted Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the current Paris Saint-Germain forward has received an offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal that could take the Brazilian star away from the path of Barcelona.
As per Romano, various sources have detailed the offer to be a significant one, and talks have advanced to the stage where official documentation has reached the player, something Romano states typically means that an operation is quite advanced and could be nearing completion.
With Neymar’s desire to leave PSG as strong as ever, the Parisian club’s own interest in parting ways with the 31-year-old compliment this mutual desire from both parties, and at the moment, the Brazilian star continues to look for a way out.
FC Barcelona continued to showcase interest in the player but Romano states that perhaps due to economic reasons or sporting reasons, the Catalan club has failed to send in a formal offer to the player and thus that operation has currently gone cold.
The Catalan giants must move soon if they wish to take another attempt at bringing Neymar Jr back to Spain, but it appears that FC Barcelona could choose to reactivate the operation for Portuguese star Joao Felix, currently contracted to Atletico Madrid, instead as per the update from Romano.
