The long-running saga involving Barcelona and Vitor Roque is set to reach its climax as the Catalans have zeroed in on the Brazilian sensation. With the player eager to join forces with the Catalans, Barcelona’s sticky financial state has not interrupted their pursuit of one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers.

The Blaugranes have had their fair share of complications when it comes to acquiring their priorities in the transfer market. However, the Catalans ensured Roque did not slip through the cracks, amid offers from the likes of PSG, Manchester United, and other European powerhouses.

As per Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans’ official announcement declaring Roque as a Culé will be made shortly on Wednesday. Athletico Parananese and Barcelona wrapped up the contract situation last Sunday, which has finally paved the path for an official statement.

The details regarding the deal showcase a relatively low fee up front, but with the potential to increase in the event the player meets the pre-existing conditions. Barcelona will pay €30 million fixed, plus €31 in variables for the teenage star, while the Brazilian club is guaranteed to save 20% of a future sale. The negotiations concluded with a joint pledge to secure Roque at Barcelona until June 2030.

Although reports in the past mentioned the possibility of Barcelona acquiring Roque in the summer if their finances allow the move, both clubs have come to an agreement that he will remain committed to Athletico Paranaense until December, which is when the Brazilian season concludes.

Barcelona would have preferred obtaining the striker before the inauguration of next season, yet will appreciate the prospect of Roque garnering more experience before making the leap to the Spanish top flight. In addition, the Catalan giants will not have to worry about warding off competitors as the signing is bound to be made official.
