FC Barcelona are currently facing various problems concerning financial fair play and are thus looking at various avenues to generate additional income.
in this regard, the Catalan club believes that the biggest streams of revenue will understandably be through possible departures of wantaway players, but another potential alternative to earning a substantial amount of revenue has also opened up elsewhere.
As per a recent revelation by Mundo Deportivo, former Barcelona defender and current player for French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, Jean-Clair Todibo, is on the verge of a potential transfer to another European side, possibly one with a storied past and legacy as well.
The report claims that English Premier League side Manchester United are among those most interested in signing the French defender, who FC Barcelona sold to OGC Nice in 2021 in exchange for €8.5 million and an additional €7 million in variables.
Moreover, Barcelona also inserted a sell-on clause when agreeing a transfer for the defender to Nice that stated that Barcelona would receive 20% of the amount Nice receive for any future transfer of the French central defender.
Contracted to Nice until 2027, the French club are adamant on ensuring that they can make the most out of any potential transfer of Todibo and have thus established an asking price of €45 million for the services of the player.
In accordance with the agreement in place with Barcelona, if the player was to hypothetically be sold for €45 million, 20% of that amount would go straight to the Catalan club, which in this case would amount to a figure of €9 million.
