This season has been a success for FC Barcelona as they have won the La Liga title after several years, and that too while breaking some previous records. This sporting success from the last season will also translate into other benefits for the club.

One such benefit would be financial, as Barcelona are set to receive a number of bonuses for winning the La Liga title. For instance, the Catalans would receive around €100 million from the distribution of Television rights income.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the distribution of this money is done under the Royal Decree of Centralized Sale and is provided to clubs both on the basis of the league performance, and an equal share is also distributed between all the clubs.

La Liga received €1400 million from its global audio-visual rights, of which €700 million will be distributed between the clubs of the First Division, with all the clubs, including Barcelona, receiving €35 million. The rest of this €700 million will be divided on the basis of results obtained by a club in the last 5 seasons, with the last season weighting for a 35% of the share, the one before that for 20%, and the 3 preceding this season for 15% each.

Making the calculations taking into consideration the club’s position in these five years means FC Barcelona would receive €60 million in variable income. This is in addition to the receiving €35 million fixed income that every club will receive, which comes to a total of around €100 million for the club.

This income is €7 million higher than the €89 million that Real Madrid would receive, who had won the League title last year, and stood second in this year’s edition.

This income would be a welcome addition to the club’s coffers, especially during a time of high financial uncertainty at FC Barcelona. The club can use this income to gain more quality players and resolve its FFP problems with La Liga.
