The final days of the summer transfer window are upon FC Barcelona, as the Catalan giants look to coordinate their plans for arrivals and consequently launch their final advances for the player that the coach and higher ups of the club have deemed necessary.
One particular position that Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has been consistently hoping to reinforce is that of right-back. The last game against Getafe showcased a rather stale performance by Ronald Araujo, a central defender by specialisation, and highlighted the need for a right-back at the club.
As such, Barcelona advanced their negotiations for priority target Joao Cancelo, with the Portuguese fullback currently contracted to Manchester City, and managed to reach an agreement on personal terms with the 29-year-old according to various sources.
In the latest update, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, FC Barcelona now look set to formally submit an official bid to English Premier League outfit Manchester City for their 29-year-old Portuguese fullback as they look to bring him to Barcelona on loan.
As per the details provided by the journalist, Blaugranes will be reallocating funds generated from the transfer of French winger Ousmane Dembele to Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain, which have amounted to €35.4 million towards the accounts of FC Barcelona.
Expected to be a loan deal with a further option to buy at the end of the season, Barcelona will look to conclude the operation with Manchester City following weeks of advanced negotiations that took place between both parties as the player’s agent Jorge Mendes also continues to play an influential part in negotiations.
