After a difficult few days, Robert Lewandowski seemed to be back in form as FC Barcelona beat Deportivo Alaves with two of his strikes last Sunday. The Pole striker now has 41 goals for the Catalan club, of which 23 came in the last season and allowed him to take the Pichichi award in his very first season in Spain.

Although the player is fully fit and a physically dominant striker, the fact that he is already 35 years old raises doubts about his continuity at the Catalan club. The Pole is currently in his second year of the three-plus one-year contract with Barcelona.

According to SPORT, there has been no change in Barcelona’s plans for Robert Lewandowski, and both the club and the player himself want to continue working together for the coming seasons.

The club understands that things can change quickly in football, but is still clear that Lewandowski will remain an important player for Barcelona next season.

As already reported here, the Catalans are also pushing to ensure the arrival of Vitor Roque in January, but the Brazilian’s arrival is not meant to push Lewandowski out in any way, and the Pole would be a reference for the Brazilian as he goes through a period of adaptation.

One factor that still makes things uncertain for the player and the club is the interest of Saudi Arabia in the elite striker. Saudi clubs have all the resources to come up with an irresistible offer for Lewandowski, and if an offer comes in that both the player and the club find hard to resist, Barcelona’s plans with the Pole would be significantly disrupted.

Barcelona would not ignore an offer that would allow them to recuperate a good amount of the €45+5 million they paid for him, but still would not actively push the striker away.

Lewandowski himself also feels highly comfortable at Barcelona, and dreams of winning more titles under Xavi despite the poor recent form. Xavi himself communicated to Lewandowski that he remains an important player for him, and Lewandowski thanked Xavi for his support with the double against Alaves.
