The major stars within any team, especially Barcelona, are always unquestionably important. From their reliability on the field to their importance as an overall brand, these stars are often considered untouchable assets. However, recent times at Barcelona have not been too joyous, neither on the field nor off of it.

Many key players are underperforming this season, and it has negatively impacted the team collectively. Moreover, given their financial troubles, it can no longer be considered too arduous a task for Barcelona to potentially let go of such stars at some point.

One such player is, reportedly, none other than Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. Despite being the top scorer of the team this season, he has greatly underperformed relative to the chances that he has been given. Moreover, SPORT now states that the Barcelona ace is no longer ‘untouchable’.

Despite the club’s insistence that they will look to retain the Pole beyond this season, the reality may be different. Moreover, La Blaugrana could even look to offload the 35-year-old striker in the summer if things remain the same. At the moment, Barça’s ideal destination for him would be Saudi Arabia.

As per the report, the club has already been in contact with certain Saudi Arabian intermediaries. However, a massive problem still remains in the form of Lewandowski’s own wishes. The Pole hopes to stay in Barcelona, and complete his contract that is set to expire in 2025.

Moreover, his financial burden on Barcelona is also set to increase. With an increasing salary agreement, his retention will be much more expensive next season as well. Due to this accumulation of various sporting and economic reasonings, there is a great chance of a Lewandowski saga taking place in the summer.

As such, Barcelona could look to ask for around €20 million from Saudi Arabia for his services. While there were hopes for a €30 million fee potentially, it is not a realistic sum for the Pole. However, the main gain would understandably be the saved salary expenses for Barcelona.
