Because of the international break that is currently ongoing, a significant part of the FC Barcelona squad is away from the club, and training and playing with their national teams.

Among these players who left the club to play for their national sides was also the defender, Ronald Araujo, who is an integral part of Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay national team.

However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, he will be returning to Barcelona a bit earlier than expected as he has suffered an overload in his thigh, and without having played a single minute with his national team in this international break.

The defender had traveled to Bilbao to join his national team camp last Monday, ahead of the friendlies against Basque Country and Ivory Coast. The defender did not participate in the first match against the Basques and has already been freed by Uruguay before the team traveled to Lille for the match against Ivory Coast.

Other players like Matias Vecino, Facundo Torres, Rodrigo Zalazar, and Bruno Mendez also left the national team camp, but they all participated in the first match.

The problem suffered by Araujo is not serious, but the Uruguayans wanted to remain cautious with such an important player and allowed him to leave for Barcelona so he can recover in the best way possible.

In fact, the national team director of Uruguay commented in an interview that the defender had completed the training session with the desired intensity.

Thus, he is not expected to miss the upcoming Barcelona match against Las Palmas, and his arrival will actually be welcomed by Xavi as this means he will not have to play any more international minutes in this break, and will get some valuable days of rest ahead of the very highly demanding schedule that Barcelona will face in coming weeks and months.
