Barcelona felt much frustration following their loss to Real Madrid in the recent El Clasico. The Catalan giants felt flustered and wronged as they were left in the dirt by a 2-1 score that does not necessarily reflect the proceedings of the game.

However, a major reason behind their collapse against Real Madrid could be attributed to their injury problems. Most of Madrid’s thwarting attacks came as a result of the Barça midfield being unable to cope with theirs.

Two of the most proficient and important Barcelona midfielders were watching from the stands, and both of them were missed quite a lot.

Missing midfielders

Pedri and Frenkie De Jong would have undoubtedly been major boosts for Barcelona for that game. Unfortunately, despite slight chances of them featuring against Los Blancos, they were ultimately unable to do so. However, Barcelona fans may just have a reason to smile again considering the latest news.

Pedri to return soon

According to Spanish journalist Adria Albets, 20-year-old Pedri is set to receive the green light soon. Being given the medical green light implies that a footballer is ready for selection again. Moreover, Pedri’s green light is set to come before Barça’s upcoming clash against Real Sociedad.

The Catalan giants are set to travel to San Sebastián in order to take on La Real for their next encounter. The game will take place at the Anoeta, and Pedri could be among the stars to feature.

Having been previously unavailable since August, the former Golden Boy winner could finally return for the Catalan giants as they close down on the midway mark of the season.

De Jong remains uncertain

However, the journalist does state that the case of the Dutch star is a bit more sensitive. Frenkie De Jong could feature against Real Sociedad as well, but Barcelona will be more cautious. His feelings will determine whether he is able to feature for the Catalan giants or not by the time Barcelona make their travel.
