Succeeding at a club like FC Barcelona is a priority for most aspiring young footballers. In particular, players that emerge from the Blaugrana academy hope to give their all for the Catalan club. However, their aspirations for their careers go beyond just the success at club level.
Every young player, be it from Barcelona or some other part of the world, aspires to achieve things on the international stage. To represent their country and play in their colors, is a dream that many stars of tomorrow share between them.
Spanish attention
One such aspiring youngster was 20-year-old Fermin Lopez from Barcelona. The Spanish midfielder had never had a taste of international football throughout his young career.
Given that many of his teammates have already had some experience with international football in varying age groups, his talents being left out felt wrong in a way.
However, it seems that his luck may finally be about to change. As highlighted by Spanish journalist Alfredo Matilla, Fermin Lopez is being considered by Luis de la Fuente for the senior Spanish National team. In fact, the Spanish manager already ponders the idea of mixing his talents with those of Pedri and Gavi.
La Masia star shines bright
The young pearl of Barcelona has already appeared for Spain’s Under-21 side in October and is yet to have a senior debut at any point. However, given his meteoric rise within Barcelona, his call-up seems to only be a matter of when and not if.
A stunning goal against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League was yet another milestone for the talented youngster. His performance throughout that game resulted in him being acknowledged as the game’s MVP.
Moreover, he may now even get the chance to headline an official match against Real Madrid. While he has already impressed against Los Blancos in pre-season, his biggest test awaits him up next in the Montjuic Stadium.
