The last month or so has been the stuff of dreams for the young FC Barcelona defender, Pau Cubarsi. He made himself known to the entire world with his MVP performance against Napoli in the highest stage of European football, that too only at the age of 17 years.

Further glory awaited him with his national side, as he made his international debut with Spain in a friendly against Colombia at Wembley. He built on this international debut with another appearance against Brazil at the Santiago Bernabeu, where he also saw his teammate Lamine Yamal get a standing ovation.

Now, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the youngster has seen his performances also getting recognized by La Liga, as he has won the Best U-23 Player of the Month award for March.

In this regard, the Barcelona gem was able to beat other worthy contenders like Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia), Alex Baena (Villarreal), Benat Prados (Athletic Club), and Edoardo Camavinga (Real Madrid).

Despite the competition, it is clear that the Barcelona center-back deserved this award for his almost perfect month. He went the entire month without conceding a goal, despite facing tricky opponents like Athletic Club, Mallorca, and Atletico Madrid. He also played all the possible minutes in these matches, except the last fifteen against Athletic Club.

His statistics during this time also showcase his immense performances in these matches. He had a 91.95% passing success rate, as he completed 217 of his 237 passes in La Liga in March. Only Kirian Rodriguez and Mika Marmol had made more passes than him, and both had a lower success rate than Cubarsi.

Furthermore, the defender also shone in other defensive areas, as he registered a 71.43% success rate in tackles, recovered 7 balls, and was dribbled past only once. Thus, the youngster had an immense month with Barcelona, and fully deserved to be recognized by La Liga for his performances.
