FC Barcelona have been rather cautious this season when it comes to their injured stars. Over the last couple of seasons, allowing players to return before they have fully recovered has proved to be detrimental for Barcelona.
As a consequence, many stars that return end up suffering problematic relapses. One star in particular that has suffered from this a lot is Pedri. As a result, there is always skepticism when it comes to his injuries. When fit, the 20-year-old Barcelona prodigy is a true gift for the Catalan club.
Cautious about Pedri
His involvement always makes the side look much better and more complete. However, that is exactly why Xavi remains so cautious about overexerting him from now on. Moreover, that is a stance that Spanish National team coach Luis de la Fuente also agrees with.
Having just recently recovered, the coach will be quite mindful about utilizing him. According to the latest update by SPORT, the coach is expected to be quite cautious in the case of Pedri.
Having missed his presence in the Spanish NT ever since his injury, he has waited for the wonderkid. However, he is also not in any particular rush to force the talented youngster back.
Spanish eyes on the player
With the upcoming International break on the horizon, de la Fuente will soon disclose the players that he calls upon. The decision to include Pedri will likely be made following the upcoming Barcelona game against Shakhtar Donetsk. The UEFA Champions League clash will be one that the National coach keeps a keen eye on.
Depending on Pedri’s sensations in that game, de la Fuente could choose to include the former Golden Boy winner. However, even if he does include him, he will likely be used very sparingly. This will be done to ensure that no additional workload is put on a player who has just recently returned from injury.
On the other hand, the coach could also decide that it is best for Pedri to remain in Barcelona for now. In order to continue his recovery and return to his physical best, the player needs time and rest. Both Xavi and de la Fuente understand this in unison.
