One of the lingering issues at FC Barcelona this season remains the injury problems that have been recurring since several seasons. The loss of important players at crucial points of the season is an issue that continuously plagues the Catalan giants.
This season, they have already lost both their 20-year-old Golden Boy winner Pedri, and one of the Barcelona captains, Frenkie De Jong, to their respective injuries.
Both midfielders were integral to the style of play that Xavi wants his team to play, and their absence has been heavily felt in terms of the control that the Catalans are able to maintain in their games.
However, some positive news awaits fans of La Blaugrana. According to journalist Achraf Ben Ayad, Pedri’s recovery is going ‘really well’ and it seems that his return will indeed take place as was initially diagnosed and expected.
This should come as great news to the fans of Barcelona knowing the previous history of Pedri with injuries. Even before, his recovery has typically had complications and then resulted in the player suffering unfortunate relapses resulting in him being out for much longer than originally anticipated.
For now, exact dates are not present but the expectation as per reports is that Pedri will likely make his full-fledged recovery by the El Clasico fixture set to take place at the Montjuic Stadium at the end of October. His return would mark a great improvement for Barcelona given their recent struggles against various opponents.
Frenkie De Jong, on the other hand, is expected to be out for much longer and his recovery is still only in the initial stages. For the Dutchman, the return is expected to take place sometime in November as per several sources, and thus Barcelona will have to make do without their captain for longer than they will have to without Pedri.
