FC Barcelona have been diligently working on securing the services of their key players for the years to come. For La Blaugrana, renewing their most important players is a priority that cannot be overstated. Especially with the financial limitations that Barcelona has, it is perhaps even more important to retain players.

Similarly, it is also a big priority for the club to manage the injuries of their players. Long-term injuries are always a massive letdown, and even more so if they happen to come upon players who are considered to be necessary pieces of any team. For Barcelona, however, these injuries have been a rather frustrating constant over the last few seasons.

Yet, if there is an extraordinary case in which both the contractual situation needs some touching up as well as there being an injury problem, Barcelona have that as well. In the case of Gavi, aged 20, the Catalan giants are hoping to have both issues resolved soon.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Gavi’s return is now ‘imminent’ and the Barcelona staff is ready to give him the medical green light soon. At the same time, the club’s board is already working on something else that will help them retain the player’s services for the near future.

With a contract that is currently active until 2026, the club is already hoping to extend his stay at Barcelona beyond that date. For that, work has already begun on his new deal and Romano states that the Catalan giants consider Gavi to be a crucial part of their project and they hope to advance talks quite soon.

As such, his renewal is a massive priority for them and his long-awaited return to the field only adds to the overall excitement around his future. For Hansi Flick, there is no doubt that he will be an important player for his team and the German coach continues to wait eagerly for his availability.
