Recruitment with improvement in mind is exactly what clubs like Barcelona aspire for. Every signing that is made is done so with a specific role in mind to ensure sustainability and technical integrity. However, for Barcelona at this point, efficiency is even more crucial due to their financial situation.
One role in particular where Barcelona believe themselves to be lacking is on the wings. While it is true that Barça possesses some technically gifted wingers within its ranks, they are missing a specific profile. To be precise, Barcelona believe that they lack a dynamic winger who is rather capable in taking defenders on.
As such, Barcelona have decided that, reportedly, they would like to incorporate a new winger soon. Vitor Roque did arrive just recently as a forward recruit, but his talents help as a striker. In terms of what Barcelona continue to look for, a certain name from Girona pops up.
According to SPORT, Barcelona are still persistent about the prospect of signing Savinho. A 19-year-old Brazilian winger, Savinho has been one of the revelations of La Liga this season. With 4 goals and 5 assists to his name already at such a young age, he combines strong decision making with a rather dynamic play style.
Using his speed and dribbling to break apart opposition structures, he helps Girona unsettle a lot of opponents. For this exact reason, Barcelona continue to have their eyes on him. They believe that unlike Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Joao Felix, ‘Savio’ offers a new depth to the winger position.
However, Manchester City and others in the City group seem to have a different idea. Between those clubs, of which Girona is a part, they hope to change his ownership soon. There is the possibility of going back to his parent club Troyes, over in France. He could also stay in Girona under Michel’s orders. Furthermore, there is even the prospect of joining Manchester City as well.
These options do seem to make one thing clear, Savinho’s value continues to ascend. Reportedly, even some offers from the Premier League and Bundesliga arrived in January. However, any decision regarding his future has been postponed until the summer. In a way, this helps Barcelona, who could not have made a move right now either way.
By then, they would at least have a better idea of how to pursue the talented winger. For now, a midfielder remains their goal, and the one they have in mind also belongs to Girona. However, there do remain some differences over exactly how much he would cost or what alternative payments can be made.
