FC Barcelona have already assumed that their sporting needs for the upcoming season require the Catalan club to make certain sacrifices in order to recruit specific talents to bolster a squad that needs reinforcements.
The primary targets that FC Barcelona had set for themselves were two of English Premier League outfit Manchester City’s finest as well as Portuguese stars Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo.
Both the 28-year-old midfielder and the 29-year-old fullback remain two of the most coveted stars in their respective positions and Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez remains adamant that their arrival would ensure a noticeable upgrade to the team.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona have now formally sent an offer for both players to Manchester City as was required to kickstart negotiations to finally make proper advancements in their respective operations.
As per the report, the current offers sent include primarily loan deals to bring both players to the club with the inclusion of a mandatory purchase clause at the end of the season worth €70 million for the 28-year-old midfielder.
Moreover, it is already reported that in the case of Joao Cancelo, Barcelona already has an agreement on personal terms with the 29-year-old fullback according to various sources that also include trusted Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The case of the fullback also remains more severe as the relationship between him and Manchester City coach and former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola remains torn as the player and club both look for a way out for him.
On the contrary, City remain adamant on retaining Silva but the assurance given to him by Guardiola regarding not standing in his way if an appropriate offer arrives could prove to be key if he himself also pushes for the move and requests City to accept the proposal made by Barcelona.
It will be interesting to see how City’s response evolves in regards to the official proposal sent as per the report, but it seems that FC Barcelona is finally gearing up to advance formal negotiations as soon as possible for their key summer targets.
