Being one of the most experienced and proven players in the FC Barcelona squad, Robert Lewandowski can play a significant part in any success that the Catalans are pursuing this season.
Luckily for the Blaugranes, the Pole has started the season firing on all cylinders, as he has already scored three goals in two games. Hansi Flick has already recognized his contribution and praised the Pole for his performances at the start of the season.
As Mundo Deportivo has noted, with these three goals in the opening two games, Lewandowski has had the best start to a season in the last five years.
Lewandowski arrived at Barcelona for the 2022-23 season and had scored two goals by the time the first two games of the campaign had been concluded. However, in the last season, which was his second with Barcelona, he had zero goals after the first two games.
Lewandowski’s start to this season is even better than the starts he had during the last two seasons with Bayern Munich. In his last campaign with the Bavarian team, the 2021-22 season, he scored twice in the first two games against Borussia Monchengladbach and Cologne.
In the season prior to that, he scored only once in the first two matches of the campaign. However, that campaign was the best that the Pole had in terms of goalscoring, as he scored 41 goals in 29 Bundesliga games. In that season, he was also playing under the now-Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick.
The last time that Lewandowski had a better start to a season was in 2019 when the Pole scored five goals in his first two games. He started that season with a double against Hertha Berlin, then scored a hat-trick against Schalke 04, and went on to score 16 times in the next consecutive 11 games.
