FC Barcelona started this 2024-25 season in a blazing fashion, with several of their players playing at the peak of their powers. Their performances allowed the Blaugranes to emerge as one of the most competitive teams in Europe and Spain.

However, their domestic campaign has slowed down significantly in the last few weeks, as they have been able to win only 1 of their last 6 games. This slowdown in the team’s performance has been accompanied by a general decline in the performance of some of the team’s key players.

This is particularly the case with the veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, who also started the season in excellent form, but as is normal for most strikers, is going through a slump right now and has scored only once in the last four games.

Despite being one of the leaders of the team on the pitch and the team’s top-scorer, SPORT notes that Hansi Flick has still made it quite clear that there are no untouchables in the team by subbing him out whenever he is not playing at his best, irrespective of the situation the team is facing in any particular match.

This was particularly clear in the game against Leganes when Flick decided to sub him out in the 66th minute, despite the fact that Barcelona were chasing the game. The German coach understood that the Leganes defense had found a way to neutralize the Pole, and thus decided to bring in a different offensive weapon by replacing him with Ferran Torres.

There is no doubt that Lewandowski is clearly disconnected in some games, missing even some chances that he would have no problems converting in normal circumstances.

However, his relationship with Flick is still very good, and both these individuals have quite a fluid way of communicating, and the coach has already conveyed to him his idea of rotating and resting him. Hopefully, the German tactician will be able to get the Pole back at his best level in the weeks and months to come.
