Barcelona superstar widens Pichichi gap but Golden Boot fight rages on

The 2024-25 season has passed its halfway mark, yet the La Liga title race remains wide open, with FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid locked in a fierce battle for supremacy.

Amidst this thrilling contest, Robert Lewandowski continues to dominate the scoring charts in both Spain and Europe. The Barcelona striker has already netted 30 goals across all competitions, including 18 in La Liga, solidifying his position as the league’s top scorer.

With these 18 goals, Lewandowski remains in pole position for the Pichichi Trophy, but according to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, the 36-year-old faces increasing pressure in the race for the European Golden Boot.

The Polish forward added to his tally with a crucial strike against Alavés, yet his closest competitors across Europe also found the net over the weekend, ensuring the battle for the prestigious award remains fiercely contested.

Salah Leads, Haaland and Kane Close Behind

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) remains at the top of the Golden Boot standings after scoring a brace in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Bournemouth. The Egyptian forward now has 21 Premier League goals, giving him 42 points in the rankings.

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland is not far behind, netting in his side’s crushing 5-1 defeat to Arsenal to bring his tally to 19 goals. Meanwhile, Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) also scored twice in a narrow 4-3 win against Holstein Kiel, reaching the same 19-goal mark in the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski, despite being La Liga’s top scorer, currently sits in fourth place in the Golden Boot race with 36 points, trailing Salah, Haaland, and Kane.
