New arrivals remain a top priority for FC Barcelona over the course of the summer transfer window in order for the Catalans to be able to reinforce their side for the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
Players such as the likes of Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City, Vitor Roque all the way over in Brazil, and perhaps even Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid are all on the radar of FC Barcelona.
In a recent development, Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes was in the city of Barcelona to discuss various operations, one of those being assessing the situation surrounding La Masia jewel Ansu Fati and his future at the club.
Moreover, as was previously speculated and is now being reported by Mundo Deportivo as well, Mendes’s visit was to discuss topics apart from Ansu Fati as well with the club.
One such topic was the prospect of renewing La Masia starlets Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal. The left-back has already become a household name within the Blaugrana side with many across Europe now being aware of his electric presence within the Barcelona first team following his breakout season.
Lamine Yamal on the other hand, yet to turn even 16, has been turning heads everywhere with his quality at such a young age, going as far as to becoming the youngest debutant in FC Barcelona history under Xavi Hernandez.
For Balde, the proposed idea is to extend his current contract, which runs out in 2024, by at least 3 more years until 2027. It would also include the same €1 billion release clause as other star youngsters in the team such as Ansu Fati, Gavi, Pedri, and Ronald Araujo, alongside improved financial conditions.
On the other hand, Yamal would be offered a new contract that extends his contract till 2026, with Barcelona leaving room for adjustments and additions should the player develop further and become a more important part of the first team.
However, the proposed contract will potentially only be signed by July 13th or beyond, given that it would be the date the young 15-year-old finally turns 16 and becomes eligible to sign his first professional contract with the club.
